As said in wikipedia: "It is one of the largest aquariums in the world, and has a large collection of marine species — birds, mammals, fishes, cnidaria and other marine organisms.
The exhibition is arranged around four smaller aquaria, displaying the fauna and flora of the Atlantic, the Pacific, the Indian Ocean and of the Antarctic and a large central tank to exhibit species of the open ocean, from sharks and large groupers to Tuna fish and small wrasses. Despite its intention of representing the open ocean, it has been criticised by several scientists for grouping together species that would never meet in nature.
The exhibition aquaria can be viewed from several levels to see underwater and coastal habitats."

I think it's worth a visit and revisit, for it's a very calm and very beautiful place. The central tank is really big and there are spots where you can stay and have the feeling you are inside it.

This is a "cozido à portuguesa" for two! It's a typical portuguese dish made of boiled meat and vegetables. With the water where the food was cooked they make a "cozido" soup that is wonderful too. The quantity was enormous for me and a friend but it was delicious!

LagarTAGIS is a new gorgeous place inside Botanical Gardens in Lisbon. It's a kind of a greenhouse where butterflies live and breed. You can spot many kinds of butterflies, their caterpillars and pupas. Next days I will post one photo of each of these phases of a butterfly life.
Anyway is a very good cozy place to visit, to stay reading a book, or just to contemplate.

Good to know, that if one day somebody living in this pink house would be of my acquaitance, and if we would have arranged to meet outside his/her door, I could perfectly wait seated instead of standing up while he/she would get ready... Or, if in love, for instance, and not wanting to look anxious, I would be so very cool waiting, seated, a few stairs above, as if it wasn't anything to do with me. Probably legs crossed, reading a newspaper, or looking to the opposite side... Good to know that even only from time to time things do fit into each other and the world seems to make at least some kind of sense.

Small, quiet, not at all crowded, yet beautiful small garden in the center of Lisbon, near Amoreiras towers. Nice for an afternoon stroll or a morning coffee (it has small kiosk which sells some food) or whatever you find appropriate to do in a park. Museu Arpad Szenes - Vieira da Silva [both painters] nearby (in fact right there, at one corner) is more than worth a visit. At the same corner one will find Mãe d'Água, once the central cistern of Lisbon water supply system. The arches in the picture belong to a section of the acqueduct that has its final stop there (i think...).

Not a great picture of a great building. It was an electricity station (1914 - 1975) that was transformed into a museum in 1990. Today (until January) it's showing a Star Wars exhibition with the film's original robots, starships, costumes.. and Chewbacca!

Miradouro de Nossa Senhora do Monte is one of the best places to look over Lisbon (as it's one of the highest). But the place itself is perfect because it feels like a place you would find in the most isolated interior of Portugal, with an impecable garden with 3 or 4 red garden benches and a tiny church that announces itself every 15 minutes with the sound of real bells. It really matches with the feeling of a warm november sunny sunday.

Rossio it's one of Lisbon's main squares. As it said in Wikipedia: "It has been the setting of popular revolts and celebrations, bullfights, burning of heretics and executions. Now it is a preferred meeting place of Lisbon natives and tourists alike." The building facing you (with the columns) is the D. Maria II Theatre . It's worth a zoom to see the ondulating patter of the "calçada" (paviment). It's located in the Pombalin Downtown and this is the view from Santa Justa Lift (if you're there and look to the left).

These guys share some tracks with these guys. They're comfortable, air conditioned and bigger but fortunately they can't fit in most of the streets where the tram track is. So the original tram is still alive and won't be replaced easily.

Last year it was the tallest christmas tree in Europe. Metalic christmas tree. Actually there was another christmas tree that high (72 metres) in Warsow, sponsored by the same bank. Today, this year's Lisbon christmas tree is already this high.

This is Praça do Comércio (Commerce Square) with the bronze equestrian statue of King José I, which looks like a kid toy next to the gigantic metal construction!

This is a typical Lisbon pastry "since 1837". A must-taste when you visit Lisbon. It's served warm out of the oven and sprinkle with the cinnamon and powdered sugar. Nham!

Convento do Carmo

This is the Carmo Convent, a mediaeval convent which was ruined in the 1755 Lisbon earthqwake. It's church ruins are the the main mark of the earthqwake in the city.
Nowadays the ruined Carmo Church is used as an archaeological museum.

Yersterday's photo was taken from the top of this - Santa Justa Lift. It brings you from downtown to Carmo, near Chiado and Bairro Alto, which are even more alive and moving areas of the city than downtown. Right in front of the lift you have the Castle.

This picture was taken yesterday, when the sun was already shining again after 3 days of non-stop rain. This is a view to downtown that was rebuilt in orthogonal streets after the 1755 earthquake. It's called "baixa (downtown) pombalina" after the Prime Minister Marquês de Pombal who was responsible for the reconstruction.
